The Breastfeeding Task Force of
Greater Los Angeles cordially invites you to be a part of the
Hospital Breastfeeding Summit on October 15, 2008. This Summit
will engage a select group of individuals from an array of
sectors, including government, health, community-based advocacy,
and others to be part of a dynamic process that will shed light
to the low in-hospital exclusive breastfeeding rates and their
negative impact on the health and wellbeing of babies, their
mothers, and the community at large.
Los Angeles County ranks 44th
among counties in California in its in-hospital rates of
exclusive breastfeeding. More than half of the poorest
performing hospitals in the state are located in Los Angeles
County (California WIC Association/UC Davis Lactation Center
report – A Fair Start for Better Health: California Hospitals
Must Close the Gap in Exclusive Breastfeeding Rates).
We value your input and think your presence at this invitation
only event is invaluable. Help us create a healthier Los
Angeles!
We hope you can
join us! If you know someone else who should participate, please
let us know.
