About the Mother's Milk Bank: The Mother's Milk Bank was formed in 1974 to respond to the urgent need of a 7-month-old baby with intractable diarrhea. Since that time the Milk Bank has supplied over 1,000,000 ounces of donated milk to patients in critical need of human milk for treatment of a myriad of serious disorders. The Mother's Milk Bank at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center is the only human milk bank west of Colorado and one of only four in the nation.
