Peer Educator/Breastfeeding Peer Counselor
Soul Food for Your Baby is seeking a Peer Educator/Breastfeeding Peer Counselor to assist the Lactation Educator with breastfeeding class and support groups. Hours will initially be about 5 per week and may increase up to 20 hours as the program expands. Initial classes will be Wednesday mornings. The Peer Educator will: provide breastfeeding peer counseling services and referrals; refer difficult cases to lactation educator/lactation consultant; assist with administrative support and preparation of materials for classes/support groups; set up and break down classes; and purchase refreshments and supplies for sessions. Must have good knowledge of breastfeeding and completed Breastfeeding Peer Counselor training. Proof of training required. Some college preferred; experience with African American communities; flexible schedule; and strong organizational and communication skills. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. A background check will be run on the selected candidate.

Lactation Educator
Soul Food for Your Baby is seeking a Lactation Educator to facilitate our breastfeeding class and support groups. Hours will initially be about 5 per week and may increase up to 20 hours as the program expands. Initial classes will be Wednesday mornings. The Lactation Educator will: provide counseling, breastfeeding support, and referrals; facilitate discussion and provide accurate breastfeeding information; provide guidance to peer educators; maintain records and make follow-up calls; set up and break down classes; and purchase refreshments and supplies, as needed. Must have extensive knowledge of breastfeeding; Certified Lactation Educator (CLE) preferred (proof of certification required); Bachelor's Degree; experience leading breastfeeding classes or support groups; experience with African American communities; flexible schedule; strong organizational and communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office and with audiovisual equipment. Must have a computer, Internet access, and a printer. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. A background check will be run on the selected candidate.

UC Irvine Medical Center
UC Irvine is looking for a Per Diem Nurse for a mininum of four 8-hour day-shifts in the Obstetrics Post Partum department.
The Lactation Consultant is responsible for designing, promoting, and evaluating the patient lactation education program(s). Will apply the nursing process in providing patient and family education in the inpatient and outpatient setting, and will participate in the assessment, implementation and evaluation of staff education programs. Serves as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, patients and students.
Required Qualifications:
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Demonstrated experience providing clinical lactation support to patients
Demonstrated teaching/education/in-service skills with the ability to lead effectively
Minimum 2 years demonstrated nursing experience
Basic Life Support

Bilingual preferred. Provide lactation support and education to new mothers in the family centered care, labor and delivery, NICU and pediatric setting. Preferred experience/skills/ability:
Previous teaching experience required or previous recent experience in in-service education in clinical area. Experience in breast-feeding education and postpartum and/or mother-baby care. Knowledge of Standards of Care pertinent to breast-feeding education. Adult learning knowledge required. Demonstrated ability to utilize interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and group facilitator/process skills. Computer literacy required. Strong customer service skills.
